TJS custom designed opal and diamond ring. This was based off a flower and each opal, Diamond, and gold leaf are at a different height, with different sizes, and angles. It was challenging to creat a clean design, with a strong but minimal under gallery to support the flower design and blend into the band.

Instagram post 2137519043695165973_1735824307 TJS custom designed Chatham Ruby ring. Working closely with our client through design revisions, we came up with a simple yet timeless design. With the final sketch complete, we worked with our CAD modelers to get the geometry, proportions, and enamel sections right. Then we used a 3D printer to build the wax, followed by creating a reverse mold for casting each section. After casting each sections surface is cleaned, smoothed, and prepared for enamel and assembly. This design incorporates a high polished, hammer hardened, two tone bezel for the hand cut Ruby. We cast the ring out of solid 18k white and yellow gold for strength, and to protect the Ruby. For the enameled butterflies and patterns we modeled it in CAD to be deep enough for a heavy coating in black and white. Lastly we incorporated a personal script inside the ring “White Admiral” which has special meaning and significance. This design concept was to enhance the natural 27.55 carat emerald without distracting details. After several sketches and revisions, we decided to add a diamond halo and bail to add contrast. Then we placed the design details and accent diamonds to the back and sides to bring it all together. In order to achieve the best results we had our best carver hand sculpt the wax in separate sections. Then cast in 18k white and yellow gold, clean, polish, solder together, and set each stone. The emerald was set last in yellow gold, and with a form fit seat and heavy prongs this pendant can be worn with confidence. Instagram post 2126701359546108937_1735824307 TJS custom designed diamond wrap-around snake ring. This design was a year in the making for my Aunt Scarlett’s birthday. Months were spent going over each detail before the CAD work even started. Once the details were finalized we worked with the best CAD modeler to bring it all together into a work of art. This was an incredibly complex 3D model with 192 diamonds, a new style of setting a series of marquise diamonds, and a intricate repeating flower of life pattern on the entire interior section of the bands. In order to make this model we had to have a incredible fine 3D wax printed, followed by a delicate sprue job that would fill in all the details when it was cast. For casting we used an 18k super white that does not require rhodium plating, and is stronger than normal gold. Next the ring had to be surfaced, cleaned, and every setting and prong was polished before any of the stones were even set. This makes all the stones and the mounting look even more brilliant. Carefully and precisely each marquise diamond was set in a continuous partial bezel from smallest to largest stone. This new technique was used to create the appearance of movement. Then all of the different sized round melee diamonds from 0.07mm and up were hand set. Afterwards another round of cleaning and polishing to all the prongs, and the inside to create further contrast from the pattern. This method is time consuming, but pays off with the end result being a one of a kind masterpiece. The concept was simple, but there are many details that added up to making this a truest unique ring for my Aunt Scarlett, and it meant all the world to her. This is a wonderful project that is in process, and my client and his wife were part of each step of the design phase. This was the sketching phase after doing research on heart shapes, types of stone settings, and analyzing the proportions. I used an IPad Pro with Apple Pencil and Procreate designing software to accelerate the sketching process before building in CAD. I decided to take design elements from several contemporary diamond heart pendants, and incorporate modern techniques and tools to enhance the wearability and aesthetics. I designed a modified scalloped setting with tapered melee diamond that would need to be set in stages and use laser soldering methods to give this look. The back uses a slightly wider and heavier base to help prevent flipping, and there are engraved script with sapphires for a personal touch. The design concept began blending a minimalistic modern engagement ring with a classic and timeless look. After a several month search for a stunning GIA certified 4.00ct elongated radiant cut diamond, we finally found the perfect center diamond with a great cut and proportions. My client and myself spent several weeks covering many design options. She ended up narrowing it down to two models, so we used those as a starting point. Next we covered the benefits of the oval shaped shank to create the illusion of a thinner band, but also allowing for great strength and durability. The halo was incorporated by bringing the melee diamonds in as close as possible to the center diamond, and we lowered the center diamond as much as possible to minimize the gap. The under gallery was simplified and open to create the appearance of a floating halo and allow the maximum amount of light to the center stone. Next we focused on various ratios of the melee diamond sizes for the halo and shank compared to the center stone. After we found the perfect proportions, we looked at using the French cut setting methods for all the melee diamonds. This method is time consuming, but it is the most brilliant setting that creates facets out of diamond polished engraved angles the hold the diamonds. Lastly we looked at minimizing the amount of white gold that was visible through spacing, and the angles of the support structures. The center diamond was set using a lower support, and we used double claw prongs on all four corners. Next we focused on various ratios of the melee diamond sizes for the halo and shank compared to the center stone. After we found the perfect proportions, we looked at using the French cut setting methods for all the melee diamonds. This method is time consuming, but it is the most brilliant setting that creates facets out of diamond polished engraved angles the hold the diamonds. Lastly we looked at minimizing the amount of white gold that was visible through spacing, and the angles of the support structures. The center diamond was set using a lower support, and we used double claw prongs on all four corners. There was a particular look they wanted, and Part of the challenge was to meet that goal while incorporating diamonds that have been passed down. None of the diamonds are the same size, so I used the flower petals to blend the differences. The under-gallery follows the shape of the flower petals and creates a beautiful 3D look that also acts as support. This project started with a great client and friend that wanted to incorporate family diamonds into a cross. She wanted to wear this piece everyday and for any occasion. Since I was given free reign while taking her personality and desires into account, I knew this would be a reversible pendant. The front incorporates her five existing diamonds in full and partial bezels, while all the small diamonds are bead set in a depressed channel. This kept the surface smooth to the touch and made for a clean design. The back required some research, and I found some beautiful design from 1400 - 1600 Christian ruins in Europe. These were blended into the pattern in the back for as a laser soldered insert that was hand cleaned and polished in every crevice. The bezel was designed to match each side with clean transitions at the top and bottom.
